Activities

The department engages students in various types of training programs throughout the year right from soft skills to technological skills. These programs enable student to approach, attend and succeed in placement drives conducted by the college through various MNC Organizations.

Tech-Coliseum 2015 conducted by IEEE SB-GNEC on 22nd and 23rd December 2015

IEEE has conducted a two day event that was TECH-COLISEUM on 22nd and 23rd of December 2015. This event consisted of 6 other events which were:

1.Web Technology workshop-
The web technologies seminar had a crazy response.
The no of registrations received were unexpected.
The best part was the passes for hackathon sponsored by Toeup at the end of the seminar, which was a surprise for everyone and 3 teams have won it & will be going to the hackathon at iLabs, madhapur.
Overall the event was a grand success.

2.LAN gaming-

There  was  tremendous response for this event and it was held on both the days.The participants appeared in huge number which made it a grand success.

3.Quiz-
This was a technical event which consisted of three rounds.The first round was pen and paper in which many students participated but from all those participants only 8 teams were selected for second round.Second and Third round were buzzer rounds and finally 1 team was selected as winner.

4.Debate-
This was the technical debate which consisted of two rounds.First round was group discussion from which some students were selected and in second round they debated on a topic one on one.

This event consisted of two rounds.First round was multiple choice questonaire and second round was to code the program.

2nd International Conference ICICSE-2014 on 8th and 9th August-2014
GNITC and GNIT has organized a two day international conference on Innovations in Computer Science and Engineering ICICSE-2014 on 8th and 9th August, 2014. This second conference in succession to our 1st conference held successfully during last September. The focus of ICICSE- 2014 is to provide an opportunity for all the professional and aspiring researchers, scientists, academicians and engineers to exchange their innovative ideas and new research findings in the field of computer science and engineering.

As curtain raiser of the conference, we have organized two day pre-conference tutorial for the students, research scholars and faculties in the emerging technologies such as “Cyber Security” which was convened by Dr. C. Shoba Bindu, HOD-JNTU, Anantapur on 1st August followed by a tutorial “Android Mobile Application Development” by Mr. Ravi Sattanapalli, Global Competency Head from WIPRO, Hyderabad on 2nd August. We have received an alluring response for the preconference tutorials with about 325 students, faculties, technocrats not only from GNI but also various other institutions throughout the state.

More than 500 participants have sent their papers in the areas of network security, image processing, cloud computing, mobile computing, and other contemporary technologies, etc., for this conference. About 40 authors from USA, Saudi Arabia, Canada, Australia, Bangladesh and Ethiopia and other countries across the globe have submitted their research papers for the conference. Out of 400 papers 160 have been selected for presentation in six technical sessions. The quality of the content in the papers has been scrutinized in three phases, i.e. subject experts, plagiarism check and also by the publisher who is providing ISBN. 130 papers have been published in conference proceedings with ISBN.

The Chief Guest of the inaugural function of conference was Dr. H.R. Mohan, CSI President . The Chief Guest focused on the need of innovations in day to day life which impacts socio-economic cultures. He released conference proceedings.

Dr. Chandrasekhar Commuri, Professor California State University, USA, gave the key note address on innovations, technologies and its negative impacts on students and technocrats and he released Souvenir of the conference.

Mrs. Swarna Bai Arniker, IEEE chair person of WIE affinity group executive committee, Hyderabad Chapter and Scientist E, RCI, stressed on widening the IEEE women’s Chapter in Hyderabad and womens’ rolls in today’s technologies.

Mr. Durgesh Mishra, Chairman Division IV CSI from Indoor, professor Dean R&D , Indoor and guest of honor focused on younger generations need on innovations in today’s current technologies.

Sardar GS Kohli, Vice-Chairman of GNI and pattern of the conference welcomed participants and congratulated them. Dr. H S Saini, Managing Director, GNI and Conference Chair, stressed on the quality of the research papers, plagiarism checkings and innovations as part of placements. Further students and participants were informed about 31 students who have been placed in Tech Mahindra recently. 480 + GNI students have been placed in leading corporates, industries and MNC’s.

The co-chair of the conference Dr. Rishi Sayal, Dean-Academics & Training, briefed the audience about the 399 papers received, 191 papers accepted and published in proceedings and 12 best quality papers in GNI’s Journal of innovation in Computer Science.

The conference concluded with a valedictory function presided over by Bipindev Mehta CSI Vice President, Director Ahmedabad University and IEEE Computer Society Chapter Chairman, Mr. Hariprasad Devarapalli, with a positive note on next years aspirations for research findings.

Tech-Coliseum 2014 conducted by IEEE SB-GNEC on 13th and 14th March 2014
In continuation with our Tech-Coliseum 2013 which was a grand success where Dr. Sai Satish Ethical hacking Expert and CEO Indian Servers had conducted a 2 day workshop with more than 350 students from all over India participating, Tech-Colesium’14 had the following events lined up the post event report as follows:

1. Mr. Mahesh Thippala working as a senior software engineer @ EA sports has conducted 2 day workshop on Android Development. 150 students have participated from all over State. Materials authored by Mr. Mahesh Thippala, Participation certificates & Software kits were given to all the candidates. Lunch was the part of the hospitality for all the candidates. There were many live demonstrations on SQLite Database, Android Services, Android Broadcast Receivers, Android Content Providers, Android telephony package ( SMS , Calls , Emails), Android Media ( camera , media player , audio recording , video recording ), Graphics programming with COCOS-2D. During the session, there were many contests conducted and winners were given prizes and appreciations.

2. Crime Scene Investigation v2.0- This Event was organized first time amongst the colleges in South India in Tech-Coliseum’13. A live crime scene was put up and participants were given the documents related to the Crime to find the criminal. It was an interesting event with more than 40 participating and winners were declared after thoroughly checking the answers for the queries given to the participants and after conducting a small VIVA session. Cash prize of Rs. 1000 was also rewarded to the winners.

3. LAN Gaming – This was a live gaming session for more than 100 participants from all over AP, Participants have mesmerizing rounds on games like NFSMW, COUNTER STRIKE and so on. There were 3 levels of the round to declare the winners. Cash Prize of Rs. 1000 and Watches were rewarded to the respective winners.

A Three Day Workshop on Problem Solving and C Programming from 26th December to 28th December 2013.

Professor R.S.Salaria former Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department, Thapar University, Patiala and alumni of IIT Delhi has conducted a three days workshop from 26th December 2013 to 28th December 2013 on “Problem solving and C Programming” in GNI campus. Total 107 students have registered and attended the workshop. At the end of the workshop participation certificates were distributed to the participants. Contests on C programming through lab sessions and quiz contest on C language were conducted as a part of theory session. Meritorious Certificates were issued to the students who performed well in the contest and quiz session. The feedback of the students regarding the workshop was excellent and the students find the workshop to be very motivating and engrossing.

1st International Conference ICICSE-2013 on 20th and 21st September-2013.

Department of Computer Science Engineering of Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus and Guru Nanak Institute of Technology jointly organized the 1st International Conference in Innovation in Computer Science Engineering on 20th and 21st September 2013 at its spacious indoor auditorium. It was a very proud moment for the GNITIANS because in a gap of just 40 days, Guru Nanak Institutions has organized this International Conference, after the grand success of Second International Conference In Innovation In Electronics and Communication Engineering on 09th and 10th August 2013. The aim of the ICICSE – 2013 conference was to provide a platform for research scientist technocrats and engineers to exchange their innovative ideas and explore research findings in the field of Computer Science Engineering.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Professor K. Lal Kishore Vice Chancellor JNTU (Anantapur) stressed on the need of developing innovative ideas which can be put to the practical use for the welfare of the society and nation as whole. The Chief guest released the proceedings of the conference, souvenir and Volume 3 Issue1 of Journal of Innovation in Computer Science andEngineering.

Guest of Honors Professor A.Govardhan, Chairman CSI – Hyderabad Chapter and professor in JNTU (Hyderabad) said that the research scholars should focus on the problematic areas and lookforthesolutions. Guest of Honor Dr. Zaheer Ahmed , Executive Director – International Education Southeast Missouri State University laid importance on learning innovative things from the diverse societies.

Sardar G.S. Kohli, Vice Chairman – Guru Nanak Institutions congratulated the participants of theconference.

H.S.Saini , Managing Director – Guru Nanak Institutions stressed on the need of originality of the thought and raised the concern regarding the increasing plagiarism. The Convener of the conference Professor Rishi Sayal , Dean (Academics and Training) GNITC briefed the audience about the 460 papers received , 105 papers were published in proceedings and 10 in the innovation journal .Remaining papers were placed in the souvenir. As per the opinion of all the participants it was an excellent and knowledgeable event.

Report on Tech-Coliseum’13 conducted by IEEE SB-GNEC on 4th and 5th October 2013

The Tech- Coliseum was declared open by IEEE SB-GNEC Branch Counselor Prof. Rishi Sayal.

In continuation with our Tech-Coliseum 2012 which was a grand success where Ankit Fadia Ethical hacking Expert had conducted a 2 day workshop with more than 450 students from all over India participating, Tech-Colesium’13 had the following events lined up the post event report as follows:

  • Mr. Sai Satish CEO Indian Servers has conducted 2 day workshop on ethical hacking. 350 students have participated from all over India. Books authored by Mr. Sai Satish, Participation certificates were given to all the candidates. Lunch and Kits was the part of the hospitality for all the candidates. There were many live demonstrations on Metasploit, Sniffers, Phishing, Google hacks, Trojans and so on. During the session, there were many contests conducted and winners were given prizes and appreciations.
  • Paper Presentation- around 75 research papers were submitted from Chennai, Bangalore and various cities. 50 participants have presented the papers with the topic ranging from Neural Networks, Data mining Mobile applications and so on. The best paper was selected by the panel of judges. And prizes were awarded.
  • Crime Scene Investigation- This Event was organized first time in South India. A live crime scene was put up and participants were given the documents related to the Crime to find out the criminal. It was an interesting event and winners were declared after thoroughly checking their answers for the queries .

ICICSE- 2013 Pre Conference Tutorial on 13th September 2013.

The ICICSE pre conference tutorial was held on 13-09-2013 at Guru Nanak Institutions Ibrahimpatanam. In this preconference tutorial Dr. P. Radha Krishna from Infosys Research Labs delivered a lecture on Big Data. Dr. P. Radha Krishna is an eminent and expert in BIG DATA. 200 students from CSE and IT department from GNITC and GNIT attended this pre conference tutorial. Around 50 students of other engineering colleges of Hyderabad also attended this pre conference tutorial. This is one of the upcoming areas in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. Students told that the conference was very informative.



IEEE SB-GNEC conducted NPL (National Program League) Contest on September 2nd & 4th 2013.

The contest is in collaboration with NIT Warangal on September 2nd & 4th 2013. 2nd Sep-2013 NPL contest was conducted for final year and second year students. 350 students have attended the same. For 3rd year students NPL contest was conducted on 4th September 2013.


CCNA Boot Camp conducted by CSE department (GNITC)
Department of Computer Science has Organized a workshop on “CCNA Boot Camp” on 18th – 19th of January -2013 for the students of C.S.E - B.Tech III Year. The speaker is Mr. Hashmath Rehman, an eminent networking certified professional from CISCO India. He has been working in Networking and Security domain since 12 years. This workshop is aimed for a platform to students to start envisaging job areas like Network Support, Network Protocol testing, and design and Development of networking infrastructure etc.

The 2 day workshop schedule included training on enterprise networking fundamentals, topologies, sub netting, routers configurations and hands on experience on router configuration in real time scenario with a motivation for initiation regarding mini and main projects.



YAPPON CONDUCTED BY GNI TECHNICAL CAMPUS
Ed-vantage YAPPON is India's largest coding hackathon being organized by Gurunanak Institutions(GNI) in collaboration with Edukinect and Microsoft for the aspiring Indian youth. YAPPON is inviting developer-students from Engineering colleges across A.P. YAPPON Youth Application Marathon Programme runs for 36 hours for coding. Around 1000 students from across AP state are participating in this event. The best 100 performers will be selected for Finals to be held in Hyderabad on 16 March 2013. This program is designed to dig out the intuitive knowledge of the students and help them to make their careers resplendent.


Cloud Computing on 4th – April -2013 during Technofest -2013
Department of Computer Science has Organized a workshop on “Cloud Computing ” on 4th – April -2013 during Technofest -2013 for C.S.E Students. The speaker was Mrs. P.Vasavi from RCV Innovations Pvt. Ltd, a Cloud Computing expert. She has been working in this domain for last 6 years . The one day workshop schedule include training on :-

- Overview of and components of Cloud Computing
- Cloud and Virtualization
- Impact of Cloud on Business
- Cloud service models
- Cloud Deployment of Cloud both Private and Public cloud issues
- Design and implementation of Cloud paradigms and its demonstration
- Risk , Commercial and financial Management of Cloud Computing.

The above workshop happens to be a boot camp for the students venturing for real time scenario implementation with a motivation with respect to mini and main projects.




IEEE Student branch of GNEC conducted workshop on Ethical Hacking by Mr. Ankit Fadia (Professional and expert ethical hacker) in the year 2012.





Conferences/Workshops :
  • .NET course conducted for all the modules (ASP.NET,VB.NET,C#) for 2010/11 batch passed out students by experts from Soft Cube Solutions.
  • The department has conducted Infosys Campus Connect program for all the six modules for Infosys during the year 2009-2010
  • Department conducted training programs through its gust lectures/Expert lectures are Prof Narender Reddy ,Osmania University conducted training program on “ Data structures through C++”
    Mr Subramanyam, Vice President ,CA conducted a training program on “ Current technological trends .
    Dr Raj Kaml, Ex-VC, Devi Ahalya university , Indore conducted traing program on” Mobile Computing and it’s operating system”.
  • Three days Faculty Development Program on MS- Office for all the Department faculties
  • Linux FDP program in July 2010 for all the Faculties of GNI Group.
  • Department of CSE, IT, Department of Computer Applications and IUCEE of GNI jointly organized a national level faculty leadership institute program on “Data Mining and Data Ware Housing” by Dr.S.Lakshmivarahan (Professor of Computer Science at University of Oklahoma,USA)
  • Department of CSE IEEE student branch of GNEC conducted workshop on Ethical Hacking by Mr.Ankit Fadia (Professional and expert ethical hacker).
  • A two day National Conference on “ recent trends in information/Network Security” in association with ISTE, on 23rd and 24th December 2010. More then 250 student participants participated from all over the sate, with more then 70 research papers.
  • National Conference on Emerging Trends in Information and Communication Technologies being organized jointly with computer Society India Division IV and CSI Hyderabad Chapter on 14-15th October 2011 at GNI.The main resource persons were Prof S.V.Raghavan IIT,Madras,Dr.D.V.Somayanjulu NIIT,Warangal,Prof Kesav V Nori IIIT,Hyderabad.


INCUBATION CENTRE:
The department/college started an Incubation Centre, where selected students would be trained on various software technologies/tools to develop a Software Application, which can be used by the college. The selection process of these students through objective/descriptive test conducted by incubation centre coordinator. The selected students were given fixed stipend on monthly basis in order to motivate them.

The students are trained on various concepts of Software Engineering, Project Management, Risk Management and Configuration Management. Students were also trained on Data Base Concepts and Data Base Tools apart from other programming languages like Java, C & C++.
